Functional Biogeography: Evaluating community assemblage patterns and ecosystem functioning in intertidal systems using trait based approaches
Understanding ecosystem functioning is pivotal in predicting species responses to changes and shifts in environmental parameters such as temperature across space and time. In this project, I used rocky shore species to determine how their reproductive and developmental traits influence the community assemblage patterns observed and how these traits subsequently respond to differences in temperature and chlorophyll-a gradients within and across the biogeographic regions of the coast of South Africa.
