Academic Appeals
14th Jan-4th of February then I asked for the academic appeal deadline to be extended, especially for students for were writing supplementary exams who were waiting for their results.
In Total, I received 68 Academic appeals. 49 were successful and 16 were unsuccessful, in total the percentage of successful academic appeals is 72%.
One of the challenges that I've faced during this process was the issue of the deadline, because in some instances. A student's results will be withheld because of outstanding fees or a matric certificate, meaning that they don't know how they performed, meaning that if they pay the outstanding fee or submit the certificate, then they will get their results. Many students got their results after the 4th of February and found out that they were academically excluded by the university and their appeal won’t be considered by the appeal committee.
Text Book Initiative Drive
February 2019, I received textbooks from the Alumni House that were donated. The Alumni house then passed the textbooks to the SRC to give them to students that need the Textbook/Calculator. The textbooks and Calculators are borrowed to students who do not have the capital to buy them. So, this drive is helping students who are in need. We give them and tell them they must try and return them by the end of the 4th term.
