Steven Lang was born and raised in Johannesburg before he went to to Brazil to avoid military service in the SADF. He spent five years in Brazil where he learnt Portuguese and qualified as a translator. He then spent two years in New York before he returned to South Africa where he worked at the SABC - first in the external services of the radio and then on the current affairs shows of SAfm.
In his 21-year stint at the SABC, Steven worked in radio, television, news research and was the founding executive producer of the online site - www.sabcnews.com. When he left the SABC at the end of 2007, he was the executive producer for all SAfm current affairs shows.
Steven has had a close relationship with Highway Africa working as the editor for the annual conference newspaper and editing the Highway Africa News Agency (HANA) productions at the World Summit on the Information Society.
