GENERAL PROFILE:

Kanyiso Ntikinca is an Industrial and Economic Sociology lecturer, who specialises in the following areas: the sociology of work; the sociology of labour markets and global value chains. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Mr Ntikinca is also a research supervisor and a co-ordinator of the Industrial and Economic Sociology 3 course. Mr Ntikinca is currently working on a PhD dissertation which is examining the state of farm workers in the Langkloof Valley, a deciduous fruit producing region in the Eastern Cape. This dissertation ties into Mr Ntikinca’s broader research interest in global supply chain dynamics and their impact on labour in the global south.  In addition to his academic work, Mr Ntikinca is actively involved with a local NGO that supports and empowers farm workers, farm dwellers and small-scale farmers across five municipal areas (Makana, Sunday’s River Valley, Ndlambe, Nxuba and Nkonkobe) of the Cacadu and Amathole District Municipalities of the Eastern Cape.
