NICLE Session 4
Teaching and learning: Measurement
Prudence Van der Linde was one of our actively participating NICLE teachers in 2011. While she retired at the end of the year she is once again helping out by teaching learners who do not have a mathematics teacher. In 2011 Prudence presented an excellent workshop at the AMESA regional conference in Alice on one of her lessons on measurement that we were privileged to see.
For this NICLE session in June 2014 we asked her to do a demonstration lesson with her class on how she teaches capacity. This was a wonderful session and the NICLE teachers said they learnt much from the opportunity of being able to watch how learners respond to the various activities. Thank you Prudence for a wonderful opportunity for all of us to engage with a 'live' lesson that allowed for rich classroom based discussion to follow.
