Serge Alain Nitegeka
The Visual and Performing Arts of Africa research team invited Serge Nitegeka to the Arts Lounge to discuss his work in a panel chaired by ViPAA PhD candidate, Zamansele Nsele. Nitegeka’s 2011 solo exhibition, ‘…and walk in my shoes’ was installed in the Gallery in the Round as part of the main programme of the National Arts Festival. Nitegeka was born in Burundi in 1983 and lives and works in Johannesburg. He exhibited in the Dakar Biennale in 2010, where he won a Fondation Jean Paul Blachère prize. He is represented by Stevenson Gallery, and in 2015 was selected for the South African Pavilion of the Venice Biennale. (Photos: Ruth Simbao).
