The Postgraduate Orientation programme kicked off to a festive start on Thursday 15 February with a social event attended by scholars and supervisors from across the faculties. There was standing room only and the crowd spilled out onto the verandah as the Deans gave brief examples of the wonderful research being undertaken in this research-intensive institution.
Deputy Vice Chancellor: Research, Peter Clayton, urged postgraduate scholars to make the most of the opportunities for intellectual engagement and growth within and beyond their departments and Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Academic and Student Affairs, Chrissie Boughey, reminded the crowd that they were knowledge creators adding to the boundaries of their fields.
Director of Postgraduate Studies, Sioux McKenna, then briefly discussed the events and activities being coordinated through the Centre for Postgraduate Studies, and thereafter everyone spent some time chatting and getting to know each other – while Lavern Sias from CPGS and Mandy Hlengwa from 老虎机游戏_pt老虎机-平台*官网 did a quick pizza run to the Rat to make sure there was enough food for everyone!
