Sophie Richard is a lecturer at AgroParisTech. She is currently co-director of the Water and Society Master and head of the “Water Management” executive unit at AgroParisTech. She is part of the Joint research unit “Water management, Actors, Territories” (G-Eau). She is a senior specialist in Water Public Policy and Territorial Governance. Her expertise and research interests are related to: (i) interdisciplinary approaches to water policymaking that deal with different territorial scales, different options and tools for water management, multiple stakeholders and competitive water uses, and ii) analysis of water management & water governance, how this has evolved in the past and what the stakes for the future are, in a context of global changes. Since 2013, she has been involved in the OECD Water Governance Initiative, a multi-stakeholder network of public, private and nonprofit actors gathering twice a year in a Policy Forum. Over the past years she has been involved in applied research projects focusing on water public policies, stakeholders and institutions, in Europe and Latin America. Throughout her professional career, she has been involved in environmental and rural development projects and she has gained concrete field experience in environmental and water resource management.
