Vuyisile Mini Workers Schools
NALSU has been central to the organisation and delivery of the Vuyisile Mini Workers Schools since their launch in 2015. The school is named after Vuyisile Mini, a well-known Eastern Cape trade unionist who was particularly active in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth), and who was executed in 1964 for his role in the anti-apartheid armed struggle.
Funded by the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES), each School brings together approximately 40 participants from a range of unions - mainly from East London, Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) and Uitenhage - as well as from other workers' organisations - mainly from the Sundays River Valley - for five days of discussions and debates.
The participants are fully-funded, and attend the School in Makhanda (Grahamstown). NALSU delivers the Vuyisile Mini Workers School in partnership with the Departments of Sociology and Industrial Sociology, and Economics and Economic History, at Rhodes 老虎机游戏_pt老虎机-平台*官网, Makhanda.
The next School will take place later in 2024, once again supported by our partners, the FES.
The Annual Neil Aggett Labour Studies Lecture, a public event, is also linked to the Vuyisile Mini Workers School.
