On 21 August, the top four finalists of the Penultimate LLB class argued for the coveted position of top mootist and runner up 2019. Kyle George and Tonthozo Saukila argued on behalf of the applicants, while Nicholas de Wet and Tsepo Lepelesana argued on behalf of the respondents. They had to argue in front of a formidable bench consisting of 老虎机游戏_pt老虎机-平台*官网 Bloem (from the Eastern Cape Division of the High Court), Magistrate Govender (from the Albany Magistracy) and former senior lecturer of the law faculty, Mr Gordon Barker. The matter concerned a challenge to the provision of a spouse’s pension in a defined benefit pension fund. Tonthoza Saukila was awarded the Phatshoane Henney Inc Shield for the top mootist in the penultimate year, while Nicholas de Wet was placed as the runner-up. 老虎机游戏_pt老虎机-平台*官网 Bloem, Magistrate Govender and Mr Barker remarked on the confidence and skill of all four finalists and commended the Faculty on the quality of skills demonstrated by the students.
