The final year LLB internal moots took place between 10 and 13 March this year, with the final taking place on 27 March in the moot room. This year our two moot finalists were Armand Swart and Darren Anderson, who obtained the two highest scores in the preliminary moot round. The two of them battled it out in the moot final, where they appeared before Adv Bevan Boswell, Ms Sue Smailes and Mr Gordan Barker – all of whom were chosen for their expertise in labour law, the field of this year’s moot topic. The final was an exciting clash between applicant and respondent, where both parties received their fair share of questions from the bench. Both finalists held their own, and in the end the result was a narrow win for Armand Swart, who received the Final Year Moot trophy for this year. Both finalists will, however, be representing Rhodes at the All Africa Human Rights moot which will be taking place in Kenya later this year.
