To celebrate the International Day for Biodiversity, in the Year of Biodiversity, Rhodes 老虎机游戏_pt老虎机-平台*官网 is hosting a colloquium intended to showcase and discuss biodiversity research in Grahamstown, and to provide local biodiversity practitioners with a forum for further enhancing research opportunities and collaborations.?
The event, which will include three talks on different aspects of biodiversity, is open to all with an interest in biodiversity research.
Professor Alan Whitfield (an NRF A-rated scientist) from the South African Institute for Aquatic Biodiversity (SAIAB) will talk on aspects of estuarine biodiversity.
Dr Michelle Cocks of the Institute of Social and Economic Research (ISER) will discuss the interdependence of cultural and biological diversity.
Mr Mike Powell of the Rhodes Restoration Research Group will discuss aspects of biodiversity restoration and carbon credits.
This will be followed by a presentation and discussion on "horizon scanning" for biodiversity from a South African perspective lead by Professor Nigel Barker.
