Industry experience

Harold has broad industry experience in South Africa and the United Kingdom. 

He spent more than 10 years as a successful commercial photographer with clients in the banking, mining, petrochemical, IT, television, retail, and hospitality industries as well as maintaining an extensive portfolio in the NGO sector. 

As a photojournalist Harold worked both as a freelancer and for Agence France-Presse in 1994, with photographs published in major newspapers, including on the front page of the International Herald Tribune and in the Times of London.

His photographs have been published in numerous South African magazines including Leadership, Financial Mail, Woman & Home, Horizons, and Sawubona, and have also been sold on auction by Stephan Welz & Company. 

A career-long interest in the performing arts has seen him photograph music, dance and theatre for numerous clients and as a photographer at major national events including the World Corporate Games, the SAMA Awards, and the Vita Dance Umbrella in the 1990s, and at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown from the 1990s up to 2019.

Harold has written for the corporate sector including researching and writing chairman’s statements for annual reports in the banking sector, and writing company news stories for corporate communications. 

He has several years of experience as a subeditor for Media24, specialising in economic and business stories.

He has designed publications for numerous clients including the National Arts Festival, Rhodes 老虎机游戏_pt老虎机-平台*官网, First National Bank, Nest Schools, and others and been awarded internationally for publication design by the Beckett Paper Company in the US.

Online work has included achieving a Mail & Guardian Pick of the Week for his website showcasing his photographs of South African musicians, and heading up Universe Online, an early entry into the South African e-commerce arena, and Nabumedia, a UK web design company.
