It is great to see emerging citizen scientists studying at Stenden South Africa in Port Alfred contribute to data generation and a greater exploration of the effects of human activities on aquatic macroinvertebrates.
In May 2024, these students were taught the miniSASS biomonitoring tool by Ms Khaya Mgaba and Mr Miracle Osoh, from the Institute for Water Research, Rhodes 老虎机游戏_pt老虎机-平台*官网. This training was done as part of the commitment of the IWR to continuous community engagement and the improvement of freshwater systems through citizen science. The students also spent time in the Pharmacy labs with Dr Roman Tandlich learning to analyse E-coli collected in the air. Thank you to Mr Ruan Cannon (Stenden) for inviting us to teach and learn with the students.
