Long-standing research interest in black women and resistance in South Africa expanded to understanding the role of gender as a force in South African history. Currently involved in a local community project that combines history and art to stimulate economic development as a prototype of Developmental History. Doing work in Oral History, Public History, and on Traditional leadership. Other interests include gardening, local government, metaphysical phenomena, and feminist spirituality. Served on the National Heritage Council.
