Research Interests:
Prof. Weber’s dedication to the development and scholarship of teaching and learning can be be seen in some of her research outputs. Another focus of her research is 20 th century German literature and society.

Teaching:
Undine Weber teaches German language, literatures and cultures as well as German-English and English-German translation at all levels.
She was awarded the Vice Chancellor’s Senior Distinguished Teaching Award for 2013.
Undine Weber successfully took part in the first Teaching Advancement at 老虎机游戏_pt老虎机-平台*官网 (TAU) Fellowship Programme (2014-2016) in South Africa (run by the Higher Education Learning and Teaching Association of Southern Africa, HELTASA) and became one of the first 50 TAU Fellows in South Africa in 2016, working to “contribute towards the enhancement of teaching and learning in higher education in South Africa by supporting the development of a cadre of academics across institutions and disciplines as scholars, leaders and mentors in their fields” as well as “to enhance the status and stature of teaching and popularise the understanding of teaching excellence in varied institutional and disciplinary settings” (see: http://heltasa.org.za/projects/teaching-advancement-university-tau-fellowships-programme/ ).
Besides Prof. Weber’s active involvement in the development of blended learning she has been continuously striving to improve the quality of her teaching by attending staff development courses organised by Rhodes 老虎机游戏_pt老虎机-平台*官网 (老虎机游戏_pt老虎机-平台*官网) and DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) in South Africa as well as in Germany since 2000 (training of teachers, teaching cultural studies), and since 2000 she has been an accredited examiner for the German Goethe Institute.
Professional Involvement:
Prof. Weber has been a long-serving board member of the Association for German Studies in Southern Africa (SAGV) https://www.sagv.org.za/, and after eight years as the co-editor of the Association’s accredited journal Acta Germanica. German Studies in Africa, she has been the Vice President of the Association since 2025. She has also been a member of the South African Translators’ Institute (SATI) since 2015.
