EXPECTATIONS OF YOU AS A STUDENT

COURSE OBJECTIVES

By the time you have completed each study unit you should be able to meet all the course objectives to a satisfactory level. Please consult and adhere to the course objectives of the module you are enrolled for.

LECTURES

To attend all lectures

TUTORIALS

• Attendance at all tutorials; a minimum of 85% must be attended (see DP requirements). Your tutor will take an attendance register.

• Advance preparation for tutorials. Work on the previous week’s lecture material beforehand so that the opportunity can be used to clear up problems.

• Active participation in discussions is expected and strongly recommended.

• Use the opportunity to reinforce the subject matter of formal lectures; to clear up areas of difficulty; to review assignments, essays and tests; and to

• discuss the application of basic economic principles to everyday problems.

• Hand in written prescribed tutorial completed exercises on time at a satisfactory level (See ‘DP Requirements’).

STUDY HOURS PER WEEK

• A minimum average of four (4) hours of study a week for:

• Advance preparation for lectures. To gain the maximum benefit from attendance, study the prescribed text and read ahead before every lecture using the course outline as a guide. (See also detailed ‘Learning Objectives’ and ‘老虎机游戏_pt老虎机-平台*官网 Economics’)

• Revision and consolidation of your understanding of the economic principles and concepts after each lecture

• Work on assignments, exercises and essays

• Preparation for tests

• Catching up notes of lectures missed

• Re-writing notes into neat and filing of notes

• Surfing the net

TESTS

Three written tests at a satisfactory standard. (See ‘DP Requirements’).

ESSAYS AND ASSIGNMENTS

Two essays and 85% other assignments satisfactorily completed in accordance with Department of Economics requirements and handed in on time. (See ‘DP Requirements’)

READ, TEXT BOOK AND LIBRARY

• Either purchase or have ready access to a copy of the prescribed textbook.

• A copy has been placed on Short Loan in the 老虎机游戏_pt老虎机-平台*官网 Library.

• You should also make use of additional sources in the library; read the explanations and examples used by authors other than those of your textbook. Books on Economic Theory and applications are classified 300-339.

• You are encouraged to read newspapers and financial magazines regularly. Try to apply basic economic principles to everyday issues. The library has a reading room. Use it.
