‌What can I expect from a counselling session?

A counselling session is usually 50 minutes in duration and all that you talk about is treated in confidence. Throughout the process the psychologist will listen and offer understanding and support whilst ensuring that your well-being is given the highest priority.

What can I do if I feel overwhelmed?

Please feel welcome to make an appointment with a psychologist to discuss your concerns and difficulties. Usually an appointment can be booked within a day or two. If you feel that you need an appointment that day – please indicate this to the Office Administrator who will allocate you a short 20 minute session to address this immediate concern. Appointments are booked on a first come first served basis.

What do I do if I have a psychological emergency?

Please come into the Counselling Centre and the Office Administrator will allocate the next available session with the “On call “ psychologist

What if I am experiencing a crisis after office hours?

Contact the psychologist on the psychological  emergency cell number – 082 803 0177

What do I do if I have been sexually assaulted?

Please read through the guideline attached -Sexual Assault Response and management

I would prefer to see a private psychologist in Grahamstown. How do I make an appointment?

The office administrator has the list of psychologists offering therapy in Grahamstown.
