In a world full of possibilities, diverse languages prevail

The world is enormous, and people are presented with endless opportunities. The element of language is important as it promotes easy and effective communication between individuals from various language and cultural backgrounds. The Confucius Institute at Rhodes 老虎机游戏_pt老虎机-平台*官网 (CIRU) has created an opportunity for students to learn Chinese as a language, while they also get to learn about the Chinese culture.

Language plays an important role in bringing together people from diverse backgrounds. Getting to learn a language different from your native language provides one with endless opportunities. “It is important for a person to learn another language because this might open doors for you in the future. I am studying Chinese studies because I want to go and teach English in China and knowing Chinese language and culture prior will be helpful,” Ms Nonhlanhla Ntuli shared.

Echoing similar sentiments, Ms Kefilwe Maleasenya said, “I am interested in knowing more about the Chinese language and culture as I would like to teach English in China after getting my degree. I have been influenced by a lady on social media. I also get motivated by my little brother because he is interested in everything that the Chinese people do”. The students expressed so much interest to continue their studies in Chinese language. Mr Tebogo Twala shared that, “I am pursuing Chinese studies as my major because my initial

Chinese studies 1 students showed a pleasant reflection on their experience with their teacher Ms Jodie Huijuan Zhang. The students expressed that the Chinese language is interesting, funny, and they enjoy it. The language is easy to learn and their lecturer has been supportive and helpful. The student’s inclusive decision to enrol for Chinese studies is to teach English in China after they have completed their degrees, with the aim to foster knowledge exchange. “Our lecturer is the best; she is always happy and willing to assist us. You can tell she loves her job,” Mr Twala.

“Ms Zhang has a great sense of humour and she teaches well,” Ms Maleasenya.

“The lecturer is very welcoming and friendly,” Ms Ntuli.
