Monica’s experience includes NGO leadership; organisational development; project management; programmes development and stakeholder engagement. She has worked as the Regional Coordinator for the Learning Trust, a grant making organisation, and has built and coordinated Communities of Practice across three municipalities in the Eastern Cape. This involved building partnerships with NPO’s, various government departments and three local universities. Monica has been instrumental in supporting after-school organisations across South Africa, collaborating on national projects and engaging with diverse stakeholders from Gauteng to the Western Cape.
Monica is no stranger to the RUCE team and has worked closely with the division on various projects, notably, through the Learning Trust and NGO Forum and as a member of the Human Ethics Review Committee. With this wealth of experience, Monica provides us a deep understanding of the varied environmental and socio-economic contexts impacting education in our country.
“I am driven by a strong belief in the power of collective agency for addressing and dismantling barriers to social change” says Monica. “I am committed to merging academic insights with on the ground initiatives for deeper community impact. My approach is characterised by innovation, resilience and a profound belief in the transformative power of community engagement.”
