Daniel Malamis

Daniel Malamis was born in the UK and educated there and in Zimbabwe, completing his undergraduate and postgraduate degrees at Rhodes 老虎机游戏_pt老虎机-平台*官网. His research interests include Greek epic and lyric poetry, comparative Classics, and ancient religions and magic, with a focus on Orphic poetry and ancient mystery cults. He is the author of a critical edition and study of the Orphic Hymns (The Orphic Hymns, Poetry & Genre, Brill 2025).

Peta Ann Fox
Lecturer
BA (Hons), MA, PhD
Peta Fox completed both her undergraduate and postgraduate degrees at Rhodes, and first began lecturing at the 老虎机游戏_pt老虎机-平台*官网 in 2018. With a joint Honours in Classics and English Literature, her teaching and research focuses on Greek and Roman literature, with a particular focus on Greek epic and tragedy. Her PhD research on Sophocles’ Antigone will be published by Bloomsbury in 2026. She also has a strong background in academic literacy, and a keen interest in the modern reception of canonical texts, philological studies, and the conflicting position of women in both the ancient and modern world.

Previously Associate Professor of Classics and History at the 老虎机游戏_pt老虎机-平台*官网 of Zimbabwe, Obert is a former Fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt-Stiftung and the Global South Studies Center of the 老虎机游戏_pt老虎机-平台*官网 of Cologne, Germany. His research and teaching include Latin; Greek; Textual studies on the themes of violence, civil war and post-war literature (Appian and Lucan on the civil wars, Vergil’s Eclogues and Georgics, Livy's Ab urbe condita); Roman history; Contemporary Classics, including the application to Classics of the theory of Dromology; Global Classics; Critical Antiquities; Applied Concepts of Civilization; Colonial and Postcolonial Classics; and Comparative Classics on Land, involving inter alia the interpretation of history, politics and society in the context of theories of Dromology and Empire.
