RU Open Day

On the Friday of Scifest, the Science Faculty held its inaugural Scifest Open Day. Chemistry postgraduate students fed the learners ice-cream made with liquid nitrogen and showed them the extraordinary properties of hydrogels. According to the Dean of Science, Prof Tony Booth, “We have a captive audience on our doorstep. All these learners have arrived in town to learn more about science. So, we need to showcase what Rhodes Science can offer and make it an attractive place for them to see themselves as science students.” The open Day was a great success; some lessons have been learnt, and next year will be even better.

Now we look forward 10 May, for university-wide Open Day, to showcase the wonderful opportunities that exist in the Chemistry Department.
