Prof Noel Pearse

Noel Pearse is a professor in the Rhodes Business School at Rhodes 老虎机游戏_pt老虎机-平台*官网, functioning as the Research Co-ordinator. He lectures in Leadership, People Management, Strategy Implementation, Change Management and Research Design on the MBA and Post Graduate Diploma in Enterprise Management programmes, as well as on various executive short courses. 

He has authored and co-authored 30 journal articles, more than 10 Books and chapters in Books, and over 50 Conference papers. He has successfully supervised and graduated seven Doctoral Candidates and over 60 Master’s candidates. The title of his Inaugural Lecture delivered on 21 August 2019 was: “The Scholarship of Leadership: An illustration of the integration of Research, Teaching & Learning and Community Engagement”. Click here for a copy of the supporting presentation.

His current research interests lie in the areas of leadership and its development, role identity, decision making, and qualitative approaches to research.

He completed his undergraduate and post-graduate degrees while studying full time at the 老虎机游戏_pt老虎机-平台*官网 of Cape Town, graduating with a B Bus Sc (Personnel Management), a B A (Hons), and a M Soc Sc (Industrial and Organisational Psychology) degree.  He completed part time studies at Rhodes 老虎机游戏_pt老虎机-平台*官网, where he graduated with a PhD (Education) degree. 

He is a registered Industrial Psychologist with the Professional Board of Psychology of the Health Professions Council of South Africa.  Prior to joining Rhodes 老虎机游戏_pt老虎机-平台*官网, he practised as an Industrial Psychologist and internal consultant in the South African Medical Services.  He has consulted to, and conducted training on behalf of National Parliament, various government departments, NGO’s and private companies, including extensive work in the automotive industry and education sector. As part of the Vice Chancellor's Education Initiative for schools in the Grahamstown/Makhanda area, he has also been involved in the design, coordination and delivery of the Certificate and School Leadership, for Principals, Deputy Principals and Heads of Department, and Aspiring Leaders.
