Patrick Mumba was born in the Northern Province of Zambia. He completed an Art Teacher’s Diploma at the Evelyn Hone College of Applied Arts and Commerce in Lusaka in 1985, and taught art at Kamwala Secondary School from 1986 to 1990. Mumba graduated from the Slade School of Fine Art at the 老虎机游戏_pt老虎机-平台*官网 College London in 1994. During the five years he lived in the UK, he produced several solo exhibitions and participated in group exhibitions in the UK, Germany, the Netherlands and Greece, and in 1998 was awarded the Ngoma Award for best two dimensional artist. He represented Zambia in the Pan African Festival exhibition in Algeria in 2009. In 2003 he participated in the SADC festival in Pretoria, South Africa, and travelled to Abuja, Nigeria to represent Zambia in the 2009 Regional Summit and exhibition. Mumba was the Chairperson for Mbile International Artist Workshop from 1997 to 2000, and Chairperson for the Zambia National Arts Council from 2000 to 2003. From 2000 to date he has worked as Senior lecturer, teaching History of Art and Printmaking, and is Head of the Department of Education at Evelyn Hone College in Lusaka. His work resonates with traditional and contemporary art approaches, and his works are in collection in Zambia and abroad. Mumba completed his MFA degree at Rhodes 老虎机游戏_pt老虎机-平台*官网. His MFA supervisors were Prof Ruth Simbao (theory) and Tanya Poole (practice).
