Igshaan Adams

Artist in Residence

Igshaan Adams is a Cape Town-based artist who works with installation, textiles and performance. He received a Diploma in Fine Art from the Ruth Prowse School of Art and he has exhibited at the AVA Gallery in Cape Town, the Stevenson Gallery, Blank Projects, and the Rongwrong Gallery in Amsterdam. In 2012 Wanted Magazine selected Adams as one of its 12 Young African Artists featured at the Johannesburg Art Fair. In 2013 he was awarded the IAAB/Pro-Helvetia residency in Basel, Switzerland, and in 2014 he was chosen for the 2014 edition of Sommerakademie im Zentrum Paul Klee, in Bern, Switzerland. He participated in the Blind Spot performances at the 2014 National Arts Festival and produced Bismallah, which he performed with his father. He also partook in a residency programme at Rhodes 老虎机游戏_pt老虎机-平台*官网 in 2014, which resulted in the two-person exhibition, SLIP: Mbali Khoza and Igshaan Adams at the Alumni Gallery in the Albany Museum, curated by Ruth Simbao. In 2015 he represented Blank Projects at the Liste Artfair in Basel and participated in the 'barriers' exhibition at Wanas Sculpture Park in Sweden.
