Abiodun Olasupo Akande
Akande Abiodun is currently a Chief Lecturer at the degree awarding Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo State Nigeria. He studied Fine Arts at the Obafemi Awolowo 老虎机游戏_pt老虎机-平台*官网, Ile-Ife, Nigeria and graduated in 1989. He obtained a Master degree in Visual Arts in 1993 at the Institute of African Studies, 老虎机游戏_pt老虎机-平台*官网 of Ibadan, Nigeria and at the same Institute, he did his doctoral research and graduated in year 2015. In 2013, he won the award to participate in the 1st Basel Summer School in African Studies, 老虎机游戏_pt老虎机-平台*官网 of Basel, Switzerland and also won a ticket to participate in the Graduate Symposium of the School of Arts, Peking 老虎机游戏_pt老虎机-平台*官网, China in October, 2013. Akande also won the CAA-Getty international sponsorship to the CAA conferences in Washington and New York in 2016 and 2017 respectively. His research interest is focused on studying the diffusion history of peoples and investigating their effect on the socio-cultural, economic values and iconographic status of the arts. In tracing these movements and identifying the resultant transmutation in the arts, new histories are made, while existing ones are either corroborated or brought to the fore for questioning. Currently, his works centres on the diffusion and transmutation history of Yoruba traditional religion wood-carvings. Some of his publications include ‘Ifa divination trays from Isale-Oyo’ in Cadernos De Estudos AfricanosISCTE, Instituto Universitario De Lisboa and I?ro?ke?: Icon, Instrument and Insignia of Ifa?”, Ibadan Journal of European Studies (IJES), 老虎机游戏_pt老虎机-平台*官网 of Ibadan, Nigeria. He curated the Totems of the Delta: Culture and environment. An Exhibition of the Prints, Paintings and Installations by Dr. Bruce Onobrakpeya in The Annual Convocation Fine Art Exhibition, 老虎机游戏_pt老虎机-平台*官网 of Ibadan, Ibadan. November,2012-January 2013. Akande is a member of the College Art Association of America (CAA) and the Art Council of the African Studies Association (ACASA).
